ANN ARBOR– In what can only be described as a “tough night,” Trend Millwork goaltender Jeff Phillion, brought up from the Tier I League, was brought down by Ashley’s Ruination in a stunning 2-110 score. “You have to score once every 3.4 seconds or so to get a score like that,” noted defenseman Jordan Swift.

A score like this hearkens back to other lopsided victories, including a 222-0 football game between Georgia Tech and Cumberland in 1916.
In fact, sources later reported that Ruination only put 11 goals in on Phillion, but the team had a “score one get ten” Groupon that “was totally expiring like today, so we had to use it.”
“I was saving it just in case we had to face Goon Squad or a B-league team,” said GM Mark Woods. “But since it was expiring, I figured, what the heck.”
Among those cashing in early and often included four goals and an assist from forward Sean Payeur, who described this as “the greatest night” of his life. Anthony Ciatti added a goal and two assists, while Devin Collingridge, returning to the team after a stint in Chicago, had two assists.
Just about anybody who had a stick, scored a goal, including Phillion who redirected Paul Sholtis’s shot going wide back into the net for the team’s final goal. “That was for you, Paul,” laughed Phillion.
Woods noted that he was happy for the win, but a little disappointed that the Groupon had to be used so early in the season. He was hopeful that the online discount provider would have another hockey promotion soon, noting he could really use a “stay in the C-league offer good for 2-3 more seasons.” League director Abe Colwell did not immediately say whether he would honor the Groupon offer if it became available.
