Long Off Season Shows

ANN ARBOR– Tuesday night’s 1-5 Ruination loss to the Ice-o-topes C team revealed the darker side of the group, as defenseman Chris Sutton questioned the skill level of fellow defenseman Mark Woods. “Why did you try to handle my cup (jock)?” he asked sardonically.

“Carrying someone’s jock is a sports reference,” explain Dr. E. Ville, team psychologist. “It’s a pejorative term used to imply that someone is so lowly that he is not even worthy of handling the most degrading of tasks, such as carrying the jock of another player.”

“But to be fair,” added Ville, “I think Woods was minus 4 for the night, so the question is a valid one.”

Sutton’s inflammatory rhetoric continued through the game and into the locker room, as he continued to needle Woods. “I mean, you grabbed the cup, and threw it on the ice. What’s that about?”

Woods admitted that the long 4-day off season may have impacted his play. “If I take more than two days off, I’m pretty much back to square one.”

In a final shot, Sutton noted that skating clinics were being offered at the local ice rink that will teach beginning and novice skaters “how not to fall on the ice.”

Peter Girz scored the lone goal for Ruination, assisted by Sean Hazaray.
