Old Men Enjoy Stag Party

Hopslam (2-1-1) stunned a much young Depot Town Stags Tuesday night 2-1. Center Jeff Phillion opened the scoring mid-way through the second period, assisted by defenseman Bernie Bachli, who had two assists for the game.

The lead, however, was short-lived after the Stags evened it up with just over five minutes left in the period.

Undaunted, forward Keith Kotimko burst past the defense for a breakaway goal late in the third. Hopslam managed to hold on despite a flurry of shots, penalties, and general acrimony from both sides.

Netminder Shawn Lopez was strong in net, enduring shots before and after the whistle. Fed up with the abuse, defenseman Al Juback slammed down a Stag skater deemed a little too close to Lopez. “If they keep hitting our goalie, I’m going to take them down,” said Juback.

“I can’t believe we lost to a bunch of old guys,” a Depot Town player was overheard saying, following the press conference.

Rebroadcasts of the game– typically found on YouTube– have yet to be released.
