No Loss, Love: Aventinus Ties

ANN ARBOR–Ashley’s Aventinus (9-3-4) played Goon Squad to a 4-4 tie Sunday night after some rather questionable calls and missed goals by referee Harry Love. According to center Joe Crossno, both refs  “were out of position and missed a goal we scored.”

“Seriously, the first went off the post, then popped into the back of the net,” stated Jeff Phillion.

An alleged second goal was taken away from the team after Phillion had apparently wrapped the puck around the net and in. “As the ref was (bleeping) looking at him, he (goalie Ryan Ruppretch) swept it out of the net!” exclaimed Phillion. “Apparently, he ‘stopped’ that one, too.”

“This is the second game this season where Harry (Love) has been so badly out of position that he has missed goals and cost us a win,” noted Crossno.

In addition, Love handed out two game misconducts– one to Phillion and the other to forward Steven Golombisky after he refused to return to the ice. Phillion’s misconduct was issued after the game following a muttered comment. While Love has not stated what was said in the altercation, Phillion had this to say: “I now know what it’s like to get “bleeped” by a zebra. I can cross that off my bucket list.”

When asked what other items were on that list, the question was quickly retracted. “I’m too scared to know,” said this reporter.
