Ruination Hopslammed by Goons

ANN ARBOR–Ashley’s Ruination (9-6) was doubled up 3-6 by Goon Squad late Tuesday night, but remained quite positive about the experience.

“Without 22 (Adam Skiff),” said defenseman Steve Gorham, “we played them even… literally.”

Skiff scored three of their six goals and even had an assist.

Added Gorham: “Besides, a third of the team is Tier I.”

Ruination, in fact, had to broker last minute deals, bringing wingers Al Juback, Shawn Lopez, and defensive pair Mark Woods and Steve Gorham to the team for the game. Each player signed a standard 2-hour contract, and will return to the Tier I league following the game.

“You know it’s bad when they don’t even bother putting your name on a piece of tape over the locker,” said Woods ruefully. “In fact, I don’t think we even got lockers. Or a beer.”

It was confirmed that none of “Hopslam guys” received an after-game beer in the locker room. Though not condoned by the league, hazing has been a part of the game since its inception.

Ruination got goals from defenseman Anthony Ciatti, forward Jon Molnar, and Matt Schaefer. The team will face Mott in the regular season finale Saturday.
