Grizzly Witt Tames Cubs

ANN ARBOR–From the misty mountains far to the West came a man– a mountain man– who would tame the frozen waters of the Great Lakes. Gary “Grizzly” Witt dropped in two goals in a stunning comeback victory as Hopslam defeated Cubs AC 3-2 Tuesday night.

“It was amazing!” said defenseman Mark Woods. “He’s like a force of nature with a big bushy beard.”

“He’s in for the full season,” stated center Scott Coates, who had a goal and an assist in the win.

Witt returned after taking a season off, but insisted on signing on only as a sub. When asked if he brought the requisite $10 sub fee, Witt let out a hearty lumbering laugh, and stated that he was not part of the so-called gentry class, but rather lived off the land.

“I’m going huntin’ this weekend,” said Witt with a wink and a smile… and several beers.

Concerned, GM Mark Woods expressed hope that a “barter system” could be successfully implemented. “Maybe I can get some chickens out of the deal, or at least a ‘free’ skate sharpening.”
