DALLAS– In times of trouble, it’s easy to look to the past for answers, but sometimes you just have to let it go. That applies to close games lost and flip phones.
“The loss stings, but you have to learn how to forget about it and move forward,” said defenseman Mark Woods following Hopslam’s 1-2 loss Saturday night. “You can’t live in the past.”
Added Woods: “It would be like keeping my flip phone… from 2004. Who does that?”
Indeed, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was seen Saturday night trying to contact the Hopslam team on a flip phone to express his support over a very tough loss.
“I told him it was his greatest game,” said Jones regarding goalie Paul Sholtis’s play. “And it was a big stage and it’s unfortunate he didn’t win it. He played well enough to win.”
Sholtis, who probably is too young to remember flip phones, may have to watch Breaking Bad on his Netflix account to appreciate their use. Instead, like the consummate pro, he focused his thoughts on next Tuesday’s game with the Ice Men, talking with goalie coach Ricky Winowiecki on which glove to use.
Jones later revealed that he was locked into a ten-year plan with Verizon and is not eligible for an upgrade until late November. He revealed to media sources plans to get “that iPhone thingamahwhajit,” which, according to leading linguists, is “like totally a legit word in Texas.”
