Aventinus Wins, Colis Retains Intercontinental Belt

ANN ARBOR– Score one for the good guys as Aventinus steamrolled past Barracuda 6-1 Sunday night and wrestling fans were treated to a Sunday edition of Wrestlemania’s Oktober-Slam as Tom “Acrop-” Colis successfully defended his title against upstart Mark “Steamboat Dragon Wannabe” Woods.

“Throw away the stats,” exclaimed the fans. “It’s all about the belt!”

On paper, Colis (goal, assist) and Woods (2 assists) looked about even. In fact, Justin Baier, pressed into defense, scored two and had two assists. Scott Bray continued his goal-a-game offense, adding an assist, and Ginny Klinesteker added her first goal of the game. Even Amy Senne provided a third period fight with Sam Kleber.

But, without a doubt, the bout that will be talked about was the Colis-Woods championship cage match. The two fought toe-to-toe the first two rounds until Colis delivered a body slam from the blue line, employing his patented “Lyssaian Leap.”

“At first, we were worried when we saw they were both down,” said Klinesteker. But, Colis got back to his feet and through the haze and confusion, made the pin to retain the Intercontinental Belt.

“I never saw it coming,” lamented Woods.

Colis is now set to challenge reigning world champion Ken “Rugby” Coleman, who has wrestled and beaten nearly every hockey player in Beer League hockey, including that chick goalie that was dating Midge (or Mitch or whatever her name is from Cubs) some years ago.
