Boucher’s Best: Beer Brought

ANN ARBOR– Defenseman Ed Boucher saved an otherwise dismal game Wednesday night when he arrived– in dramatic fashion– with the beer.

“Where the (bleep) is Ed?” asked a terse teammate, thirsty and frustrated from Aventinus’ 0-3 loss to bitter rival Leafs.

“I know!” chimed in defenseman Jen Perry. “I mean, he specifically took it from Daryl (Coleman) who offered to bring the cooler.”

Tempers were rising nearly to the point of teammates leaving the locker room in a slightly more sullen mood when, seemingly from nowhere (but more probably from the locker room door)– Boucher appeared to genuine cheers.

“Hey! Beer!” exclaimed defenseman Mark Woods, reaching for a Gatorade.

Boucher was mildly surprised the team doubted him. “If I cannot get there on time, I will still drop off the cooler,” he said with a shrug.

Added Boucher reassuringly: “Full.”

“To alcohol,”  toasted Homer Simpson. “The cause of and solution to all life’s problems!”

Players and coaches agreed that this easily was Boucher’s best game of the season so far.
