ANN ARBOR– The highlight (or low light) of the 1-5 Aventinus loss to Ice-o-Topes 2 early Thursday morning was the collision between forward Ken Coleman and referee Luke Hattie. “I don’t know what happened,” said Coleman.

Early in the first period, Coleman moved the puck out of the defensive zone in what appeared to be a breakaway opportunity, with only the referee to navigate around.

“You gotta give the ref credit,” said GM Mark Woods. “Ken never saw that check coming.”

Coleman bounced from the bad check (dubbed the “butt check”), hitting the ice. Play was suspended for several moments while Coleman recovered.

Teammates later agreed that it was nice to see Coleman “getting some ass.”

Justin Baier scored the lone goal for Aventinus. Jeff Price, a former referee, negotiated the assist.
