Winning Weekend

HOPSLAM– Scott Coates gloated as Hopslam raced past Gates 7-2 Saturday night, scoring 3 goals and an assist, including a short-handed goal. Coates made a “painting” motion with each goal, claiming to “add another Coates.” He later claimed that hand gestures and “painting walls” are second-nature to him, having done each often as a teenager. Andrew Thompson added a goal and three assists, while Mary Beth Trainor allowed only two goals in the victory.

The thought of each of the three Colemans scoring in one game is considered mind-boggling, prompting many to ask "what you talkin' about?"

RUINATION– Shawn Lopez arrived late, but successfully managed to avoid the nickname “No-pez,” Settling for “Slow-pez” as Ruination cruised to a 4-1 win. Mike Weber had a goal and two assists, while Andrew Thompson, Devin Collingridge, and Matt Schaefer each had a goal. Lopez, a medical professional, did not score, but held onto the principal of “first do no harm” by not committing any penalties and by not contributing to the opposition’s scoring chances.

AVENTINUS– Ron Coleman had two goals in the 6-1 win over Barracuda Sunday night, while brother Daryl Coleman added a goal. League officials in Toronto were split on Coleman’s second goal, arguing that the shot may have tipped off of winger and brother Ken Coleman. “It would have been cool if all three Colemans scored,” said winger Ginny Klinesteker, recently acquired from the Kalamazoo Honey Badgers.
