ANN ARBOR– Ashley’s Hopslam players expressed fatigue following their 4-7 loss to the Cleveland Steamers Saturday night. “We were just pooped,” said defenseman Mark Woods.

Hopslam started slowly as the Steamers quickly dropped 3 pucks into the net in the first period, and even built a 4-0 lead early in the 2nd period. Hopslam, however, refused to play “like quit,” scoring the next two to cut into into the lead, with goals from David Gaydos and Andrew Thompson. However, the Steamers answered back, making it it 5-2 after two.

Two more goals from each team in the third produced the final score, as Gaydos got his second and Jim Socha scored with ten minutes left in the game. “There was a lot of number two out there,” said a Hopslam player.

The team noted that finding answers would be a random process, something of a “crapshoot.”

Asked what the team needs to do to win games, GM Mark Woods said, “What to do? Key plays in key moments. We do key plays, and we’ll win games regularly.”
