Steamers Smeared (Sorta)

ANN ARBOR– Hopslam fought off exhaustion, overcoming the feeling of being “pooped out,” in their 3-1 win over the Cleveland Steamers. “We’ve had to take a lot of (bleep) from the fans and the media,” said GM Mark Woods. “But, with this win, we can wipe that clean.”

Goaltender Matt Okray played arguably his best game, notching his and the team’s first win of the season. “Thanks for being there,” he said to his defensive unit and to the fan, whoever she was.

Andrew Thompson scored in the first, while Chris Sutton slammed in the game-winner mid-way through the third period. Defenseman Mark Woods added the insurance goal on a power play late in the third.

“No one wanted to acknowledge the pressure of having to win and defend a title,” said Woods. “It’s good to get that off our chest.”
