ANN ARBOR– Forward Dave Ferguson underwent an experimental procedure to heal his torn ACL early last month, allowing him to return to Aventinus for the summer season in what doctors are calling “a medical marvel.”
“I had heard that UM (University of Michigan Health System) was working on stem cell research using goat cell to heal torn ligaments,” said Ferguson, who moonlights as a professor of pathology at the University of Michigan. “I told them: ‘sign me up!'”
As noted, the procedure has been a success, as Ferguson has returned to the team, who beat the Goaldiggers Sunday night 4-1. Ferguson has noted how pleased he is to be back on the ice, and has noted no known side effects beyond a “little extra hair” and an affinity for “paper and old cans.”
Defenseman Mark Woods scored two goals, while Ginny Klinesteker and Kurt Christie each had a goal. Ferguson added that he was looking forward to bleating the Cleveland Steamers Tuesday.
