Bob Brock and Nathan Greenman each scored a goal Saturday night as Hopslam (1-1-1) skated to a 2-2 tie with Cubs AC. Brock opened the frame, slamming home the goal while falling.
Cubs tied the game up early in the second, but Greenman answered back with a blast to the top corner. Again, Cubs was able to answer with a score mid-way through the third on the strength of a 5-on-3 power play.
The first penalty called was a somewhat dubious too many men on the ice. “That’s karma,” stated forward Jeff Price. “We got away with one earlier. This time, they got us.”
“Karma,” he added.
The second penalty came a minute later when Brock took a roughing penalty off the face-off after a brief discussion with defenseman Mark Woods. Woods declined to answer questions of what was said, noting only that Brock served his country with distinction during the first Gulf War.
“It was a true team effort,” said Woods. “We don’t care about stats. We just care about winning… or tying.”
Center Scott Coates agreed, stating he’s never visited the website’s stats page. “I’ve never been on the site, ever,” he noted.
