Eat Shoots & Leafs

Ashley’s Aventinus (1-5-1) struggled early Thursday morning, dropping their fourth straight game in an 0-6 loss to the Leafs.

“I don’t know what’s happening out there,” said GM Mark Woods. “I mean seriously. I haven’t been to a game since like last Sunday. What’s going on?”

According to forward Dave Ferguson (playing defense this game), the team tried a new “cherry picking” system– where the center eschews defensive responsibilities in favor of breakaway opportunities. “It worked well early on, with Justin (Baier) getting two clear breakaways,” he said.

Ferguson went on to say that the strategy would be more effective against weaker teams. “Even if we still lose, it is more fun to score goals than get shut out,” he added.

The team has struggled to muster offense, scoring just four goals in the last five games, including two shutouts.

Rumors that the team has become disgruntled over Woods’ management have been traced largely to this statement implying that the team may be disgruntled, or as other media outlets call it: journalism.
