Post Departed Depression, Ruination Drop to Ops

Ashley’s Ruination (6-3-1) ran out of time as Black Ops sneaked away with a win Saturday night 2-1 at Olympic Stadium.

“I thought for sure we’d just turn it on at some point,” said winger Steve Pouliot, who scored the lone goal for Ruination. “We always seem to.”

Rusty “New Daddy” Barron was steady in net despite the lack of sleep caring for his newborn. The first goal came in the second period when Barron skated to the corner to play the puck, only to have it end up on the stick of the Black Ops forward with a wide open net. The second came late in the third on the penalty kill.

The game was marked by some notable players absent. Among them included Brett Vogel and Dave Winn, who suffered a separated shoulder earlier in the day. Speculation over the cause of the injury filled the locker room, with no evidence to support any insinuations.

“Doesn’t he have a girlfriend who’s like, ten years younger?” asked defenseman Paul Sholtis.
