Rocky Road for Hopslam

Snowstorm Rocky kept much of the team away as the Ice Men (7-4-4)  rolled up a 4-2 victory over Hopslam (6-7-2). Brett Vogel got Hopslam on the board to start the third period to cut the lead to 2-1, but Ice Men’s Ryan Seauvageau answered back a minute later to make it 3-1.

Center Mike Leighton scored with 0:38 left in the game to make it a 4-2 final.

“That was a long ride home,” said defenseman Mark Woods. “I mean literally. It took like an hour and a half in that blizzard.”

The loss snaps a three-game win streak for Hopslam, who had just worked their way back to .500 and into playoff contention. ESPN Beer League has reported rumors that Ashley’s Hockey is trying to obtain Chicago Blackhawk’s’ Patrick Kane. Kane did not release a statement, but was last seen with former NBA star Scottie Pippen, also known as “not Michael Jordan.”

“Crazier things have happened,” said GM Mark Woods.

It wasn’t clear if he was referring to Kane playing for Hopslam or Kane hanging out with Pippen.

In the meantime, the team will have to wait for the sequel to Rocky, where he finally wins the championship.
