Black and Blues Ops, Ruination Tie

Ashely’s Ruination (9-6-2) battled to a 3-3 tie last night against  Black Ops in a game that featured some rough play. Justin DiCenso found himself jawing with players on the bench following an incident early in the third period that landed both skaters in the penalty box.

“The ref said that the fat guy was out at 12:20,” said DiCenso. “I told the ref that he might confuse that with ‘lunch time.'”

“That’s the first fat joke I’ve ever heard,” said the fat guy.

Forward Al Juback (2 assists) waxed philosophical. “I think he must have been skinny when he learned how to play. He’s actually pretty good,” he noted.

Despite the flaring tempers, there was a method to DiCenso’s madness. “I noticed their best two defenseman were in the box, and I thought, ‘perfect!'”

The strategy worked, as Ruination was able to tie the game up with just over five minutes. Goaltender Rusty Barron and former Ashley’s netminder Rob McDougall were spectacular, holding off rush after rush to preserve the tie for their respective teams.

Ruination stops a 3-game losing streak with the tie, but will have little rest as the team faces a B-league exhibition with the Ambulance Chasers Thursday night, and Goon Squad Saturday. “We really need to get our mo-jo back,” said defenseman Mark Woods.

Mo-jo, a term featured in the song Got My Mojo Working by blues singer Muddy Waters, is a charm to bolster confidence, or as it is called in hockey circles: beer. The cooler containing this potent elixir is allegedly in the possession of defenseman Jason Spence, who was not available for comment following the game.
