Aventinus Fail to Split Atoms

Ashley’s Aventinus (4-10-1) was swept in the season series 0-2 with rivals Ice-o-topes 2 Wednesday night, losing a 1-5 battle. “We got some good opportunities but couldn’t cash in,” said defenseman Ron Coleman.

In a bold move, GM Mark Woods rearranged the lines, moving rookie Steve Golombisky to center. “I wanted to shake things up a bit,” he said prior to the game. Center Justin Baier, recently cleared to play after suffering minor back injuries, was moved to defense, while defenseman Daryl Coleman was moved up to wing.

Though the changes did not yield the results the team wanted, they were positively received by most members of the team. “I’m super pumped!” exclaimed winger Ginny Klinesteker.

“Love it!” said Jen Perry, who started on defense for the second game this season.

Ron Coleman was a bit more cerebral in his post-game analysis. “There seemed to be a little hesitancy – unsure of what to expect,” he mused. ” But the lines did stay together quite well going on and off the ice.”

“I don’t like to say that I make great decisions, but…” said Woods. “I prefer to hear it.”

“Even if I have to say so myself,” he added.
