Dogs Pound ‘Slam

Ashley’s Hopslam (7-9-2) could not muster enough offense Saturday, falling 1-3 to the Ice Dogs.  The Dogs took advantage of the penalties, scoring all three goals on the power play. “They were all weak goals,” said a defiant Shawn Lopez, who received a dubious delay of game penalty after throwing the puck out of bounds during a penalty kill.

A look at the rule book revealed later that the delay of game was , in fact, the proper call.

After falling down early 0-1, Tom Colis answered with just over four minutes left in the first to tie the game up. However, following a Jeff Phillion roughing call, George Teodorescu got the lead back for the Dogs. A third goal mid-way through the 3rd period all but sealed the win.

“Good thing I collected money for next season prior to the game,” said GM Mark Woods. “I’m pretty sure the novelty of paying via Paypal is wearing off.”

“We actually offer financial assistance,” noted Comptroller Tom Colis. “Just fill out a little paperwork, we’ll review it, and get back to you quickly.”

“When are you going to buy me a black jersey?” lamented center Scott Coates.

Colis noted that Ashley’s does not yet offer scholarships, stipends, or grants, but would look into it.
