Ruination Dump Steamers

ANN ARBOR–It took the entire game, but Ashley’s Ruination (8-4) topped Cleveland Steamers 4-3 Tuesday night to win their fifth straight game since a close loss to Goon Squad back in April. The team has gone undefeated for the entire month of May, despite a sporadic schedule.

“We’ve had several Saturdays off,” said defenseman Brett Vogel. “That makes it hard to get into a rhythm.”

The game itself featured several lead changes with the Steamers taking a 3-2 lead mid-way through the third period. However, Vogel quickly answered with a snap shot from the point to tie it up just 30 seconds later.

“We absolutely dominated those guys,” said defenseman Anthony Ciatti. Ciatti scored the first goal of the game with a slap shot from the point, a power play goal.

Steamer Russ Holdridge kept his team in the game, even giving them a chance to win with two goals, but the result of blown plays by defenseman Mark Woods. “I tried to keep it in the zone, but he got the puck and zipped around me for the goal.”

Woods’s defense partner Vogel offered some constructive criticism: “Next time, get that (bleeping) thing in deep!”

Woods responded positively and constructively. “That’s what she said,” he said.
