Period? More Like Exclamation Point!

ANN ARBOR–Aventinus lost Sunday night 1-2 to Cubs despite outplaying the team. Ashley’s owned the second period despite three penalties from Jen Perry, Becca Koke, and Joe Crossno. The team fought off a 5-on-3 and scored minutes later on a power-play goal.

Chris Sutton redirected a blast from defensman Ryan Goodwin for the score. “Let’s win the next period,” Sutton urged.

However, Cubs winger Warren Smith skated past the defense for his second goal of the night to start the third, and Aventinus could not answer back.

“We weren’t on the same cycle there, so it was no summer’s eve,” noted defenseman Mark Woods.

Several players reporting cramped muscles and bad moods following the game. Said GM Mark Woods: “When you get three periods in a game, people are going to get grouchy.”

Added Woods: “When the goalie is the only one with pads, that’s not going to help things. If you want to win, you have to be willing to endure the blood, sweat, and tears… no strings attached.”
