Statisticians Concerned Over Ruination

ANN ARBOR–Statisticians for the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research (ISR) expressed concern over several jarring statistical results during Ruination’s Saturday match-up with Mott. “These are the kinds of numbers that can be alarming, and can lead to losses,” noted GM Mark Woods.

Economist Mark Woods– who worked briefly with the ISR’s archiving wing (ICPSR) a decade ago– noted a 100% increase in bench personnel for Mott at the end of the first period when Mott skater (oh, let’s say it was Matthew Kolehmainen) showed up late to the game. “A 100% increase is no laughing matter,” noted Woods.

“I’m no mathematician,” said statistician Brett Vogel of ISR, “but that’s a big increase.”

Matters turned from bad to worse late in the third when goalie Rusty Barron’s save percentage dropped significantly. “His save percentage is down to 50%,” noted Vogel.

“I’m no math-e-magician,” said Woods, “but that’s a big decrease.”

Despite the concerns, Fantasy C-League Hockey fans were delighted to see Devin Collingridge’s return with 2 goals and an assist, as Ruination escaped with an 8-1 victory over Mott.
