Aventinus: Beat-Leafers

ANN ARBOR: If it’s a question of beliefs, then you better beat Leafs… And that’s exactly what Aventinus did to the tune of 6-0 Wednesday night on Olympic Ice. Scott Bray dropped in two goals and an assist while four others scored (Justin Baier, Daryl Coleman, Jeff Meden, and Ron “Cocky Mofo” Coleman) in a dominating performance.

“The team got better each period,” noted GM Mark Woods. Indeed, the statistics certainly support that, as the team scored one goal in the first, two in the second, and three in the third.

Forward Ken Coleman found the victory especially sweet. “Those guys always get us in the playoffs.”

“Playoffs?!” asked an incredulous Nate Greenman.

Amid the celebration, which included Cher songs slightly altered (re: “Do you beat Leaf in love after love?“), was an awareness of the uniform issue. The team’s black jerseys have unfortunately been associated with devastating losses, including a 0-5 championship loss to these very same Leafs. “The curse is finally lifted!” exalted members of the team following the game.

However, team officials expressed concern over the so-called curse-of-the-black-uniforms-worn-by-Ashley’s-teams. To combat that, a third jersey has been proposed, but has met with controversy on the grounds that they are not… well, uniform. “They have a certain style, but everyone wears a different outfit,” said defenseman Mark Woods.

“Plus, I’m not sure I’m comfortable wearing the chaps or growing a mustache,” Woods added.
