Coleman ‘Disappointed’ with Freddie Mercury

ANN ARBOR– Winger Ken Coleman revealed Sunday night following Aventinus’s 6-2 win over the Yaks that he was “disappointed” to hear about Freddie Mercury. Ever cryptic, it was uncertain to what he was referring.

Mercury was best known as the lead singer of British pop band Queen, famous for his flamboyant stage presence and four-octave range. He wrote songs in a wide variety of styles, from rockabilly (“Crazy Little Thing Called Love”) to rock opera (“Bohemian Rhapsody”), sometimes using only a few chords to dozens of chords and key signatures.

Mercury died in late 1991 from bronchopneumonia brought on by AIDS.

When asked if any of these facts led to his so-called disappointment, Coleman admitted that he was actually referring to the hooking penalty he received in the second period. Coleman said he wanted to hear “Flash’s Theme,” but had heard Mercury would not allow the song to be played in any stadium with less than five fans.

In fact, there were less than three fans on hand, including players and scorekeepers to witness Tom Colis’s goal and two assists, Jeff Meden’s goal and assist, Justin Baier’s two goals, Ginny Klinesteker’s goal and assist, or Mark Johnston’s ESPN-highlight goal. “Had I missed that, I would have been kicked out of the league,” laughed Johnston.

In a nominally-related thought, Coleman demanded somebody to love and to “Queen my dishes, please.
