Hopslam Articles Tough to Write, Work Intrudes

AUBURN HILLS– Beat writer Mark Woods revealed Tuesday that it’s “tough to write articles” while holding down an actual job. “Between working and fighting sleep, it’s all I can do to crank out these reports.”

“Dozens of people are counting on me,” added Woods.

Between writing reports involving frequency distributions of proprietary data, answering emails, and various other “job-related” duties, Woods barely has time to sit for hours and hours thinking of “funny” things to say about the games. “Sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction,” said Woods reflecting on Hopslam’s 7-3 win Saturday over Gates Maidens & Men.

“Must be nice to sit around all day doing nothing,” muttered Scott Coates, a financial advisor, while lacing up running shoes for his mid-morning 12K jog.

Woods noted that he could not find anything hilarious about forward Chris Sutton scoring 4 goals while adding two assists. “I suppose I could say he’s scoring lots of goals all of a Sutton, or something like that,” mused Woods.

“I’d like to write more, but I actually am about five minutes late to a meeting,” he noted. Woods added that he was grateful that his director was actually running late, too, giving him precious time to finish this sentence before walking into his meeting.
