REDFORD–In lieu of playing in Aventinus’s 3-6 loss Sunday night to Mott FK, defenseman Mark Woods stayed home, opting to watch Hallmark Channel Christmas Specials.
“They’re playing Karroll’s Christmas,” said Woods as of press time.
According to the Hallmark Channel, Karroll’s Christmas (2004), starring Tom Everett Scott and Wallace Shawn, is a “mildly entertaining twist on a Dicken’s (sic) classic (that) finds a disillusioned greeting-card writer visited by bumbling ghosts who were supposed to help his mean neighbor.”
Woods initially tried to claim to be watching the football game between the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs, noting particular plays made by both teams. However, sources revealed that Woods merely caught ESPN highlights between commercials.
Fans, however, were more concerned why Woods did not play the game, leaving scoring to Amy Senne, Nate Greenman (goal, assist), and Ron Coleman. Some speculated that Woods had received a “double shot” of caffeine. According to Woods, however, weather prevented him from playing. “It’s windy out. Everybody knows it’s windy.”
