ANN ARBOR– Following the 1-1 tie between Ashley’s Hopslam and the Yaks, Kathryn Iverson went on a two and a half minute rant about the boarding incident that took place late in the second period. “I’m supposed to be the franchise player, and we’re in here talking about boarding!” exclaimed an exasperated Iverson.
The incident took play with just under three minutes left in the second period of a game that featured 16 Yak penalties for 66 minutes, including 17 minutes from Iverson. When asked during the press conference, a clearly agitated Iverson ranted for several minutes, using the word “boarding” no less than 22 times.
“It’s not about that,” said a truculent Iverson. “I mean listen, we’re sitting here talking about boarding, not a slash, not a rough, not a [sic] unsportsmanlike, not even practice! We’re talking about boarding, man. How silly is that?”
Hopslam forward Don Restauri, the recipient of the check, was not available for comment, but did note earlier a desire for more “action from the ladies.”
Iverson denied any potential feelings for Restauri, noting that “boys are stupid.” However, sources say a note was later found with a clearly check-marked “yes” to the questions “Do you like me?” and “Do you want to go with me?” Neither player has commented on whether or not any “going” is going on.
Said GM Mark Woods: “We’ll keep an eye on things to see if Don gets boarded off the ice.”
