ANN ARBOR–Ruination defenseman Sean Payeur helped teammates understand the so-called age ranges in the dating world (often referred to in animal terms) after some confusion arose following Ruination’s 9-2 win over Cleveland Steamers Tuesday night.
The lesson began after Payeur referenced a young dancer whose stage name is “Cougar,” noting the she ironically enough, is in fact nineteen. “I thought she was 60,” said a bemused Dave Winn.
“Dave, no offense, but a woman in her sixties is no longer a cougar,” noted Payeur. “She’s more like a zebra.”
Payeur went on to explain that a “cougar,” or puma concolor as it is classified in the Animal Kingdom, is a woman approximately five years older than the man she is dating. A “zebra” (equus quagga) is more like 5-20 years older, according to Payeur.
“I see,” stated Winn.
While the categories are often hotly debated, Payeur has been the strongest advocate of such a hierarchy, promoting it as part of his work through his Hookers & Blow Outreach Program.
