Sholtis Named First GoldSchmeckelMensch

ANN ARBOR– Goaltender Paul Sholtis stopped all shots but one in a 2-1 win over the Black Bears Tuesday night to earn MVP honors in what has become one of the most compelling rivalries in C-league hockey. Matt Schaefer and Sean Payeur each scored to give Ruination the win and propel Sholtis to the first ever Goldschmeckel trophy, sponsored by the Bavarian Motor Devices (BMD) and awarded by CEO Hans Undfranz.

Sholtis was 'up' to the task Tuesday night, earning MVP honors.

Sholtis was ‘up’ to the task Tuesday night, earning MVP honors.

“Ve are pleased to award zis golden trophy to Paul Shoulders,” said Undfranz. “You might say he put ze team on his shoulders, und then put zem down to stop a lot of hockey shots mit his glove und schtick, ya?”

Added Undfranz: “He’s a real Mensch. In fact, he’s the GoldSchmeckelMensch, und no one can take zat away from him.”

Ever humble, Sholtis said to the press, “A win for Ashley’s is a win for America.” Sholtis also noted that he will most likely not display the trophy for all to see, out of respect.

Friends and family were very pleased that Sholtis won the inaugural award, noting that he had earned a similar trophy some twenty years ago when he was named Most Valuable Potty-trainee. The Pee Pee Potty Chair Award goes out to only those toddlers who show exemplary skill in in learning how to “hold it… hold it…” on their way to the bathroom.

Sholtis’s lady friend also noted that this award might make his travel and work schedule  “a little easier [for her] to handle.”

The trophy reportedly, does not come with batteries included.
