Galifinakis to Play Phillion in “Party Tardy”

HOLLYWOOD– The announcement came early Thursday that comedic actor Zach Galifianakis signed on to play the role of goaltender Jeff Phillion in Party Tardy: The Jeff Phillion Story. “I play a beer league hockey player with a heart of gold and an uncanny ability to show up late,” said Galifianakis.

“I was going to show up late, too,” said Paul Sholtis following his 3-1 win in net for Aventinus Wednesday night.

Defenseman Mark Woods did, in fact, arrive just minutes before the game started. “Ironically, I was attending the the Phive for Phillion Time Management seminar.” Woods was referring to Phillion’s successful start-up company, specializing in motivational products.

The movie will focus on Phillion’s rise to super-stardom, from his early days as an itinerant farm hand and lumberjack to “the best goaltender in the [D1] league.”

“Throughout it all, we get to see how he walks in late to every scene, yet somehow shows us a softer, more vulnerable side,” said Galifianakis.

As, an example, Phillion recently noted: “As a 21 year old, hairy chested, bearded, whiskey drinking man, I can confidently say that Disney princess movies are the best ever.” He later cited Tangled and Frozen as two of his favorite movies ever.

He will soon be able to add his own movie to that list.

Aventinus skaters Scott Bray (goal), Jen Perry (goal), and Amy Senne (2 assists) expressed excitement over the movie, each hoping that Jennifer Aniston will play their respective characters.
