Aventinus Faces Winter Storm Vulcan with Logic

ANN ARBOR– Following their 3-1 win over the Ice-o-topes 2 Sunday night, Aventinus discovered Winter Storm Vulcan approaching Southeast Michigan by early Wednesday despite the seeming Spring-like temperatures. The news brought genuine concern for the players, many of whom are not Star Trek or Weather Channel fans. “I hope I can leave work early to beat the freezing rain,” said winger Ginny Klinesteker, who scored two goals in the win.

Meteorologist Greg Postel predicted “heavy snow” for the Midwest region, with 5″-8″ forecasted for the Metropolitan Detroit Area, with temperatures plunging 25 degrees over the course of the night.

The storm itself comes as a shock, as the revamped Star Trek mythology under J. J. Abrams’s direction, included the destruction of the planet Vulcan, with My. Spock (played by Leonard Nimoy), as the sole survivor of the planet and timeline that once included the original series, the Next Generation, and subsequent series and movies within the franchise.

“Despite the fact that it is illogical to name a winter storm,” said Nimoy, “we must nevertheless approach it with caution.”

Given Spock’s– er… Nimoy’s words of wisdom, forward Tom Colis promptly made a pre-emptive escape to Wyoming, promising to return once his family has safely ‘schussed’ down several trails at the Winter Park ski lodge. Others, including Nate Greenman (3 assists), Scott Bray (goal), and Daryl Coleman (assist) have opted to brave the elements as they face cold temperatures, more potential snowfall, and Mott FK Wednesday night.
