New Ruination recruits share laughs and goals in the zany new Spring season Tuesday nights at 830pm on NBC and Saturdays on NBC Kids!
ANN ARBOR– Reviving an old show with a new cast of characters is always a gamble, as evidenced by the ratings plunge when the Dukes of Hazzard featured Coy and Vance as cousins of Bo and Luke Duke. However, producers of the popular team Ashley’s Ruination scored a ratings hit Tuesday night with a 6-1 victory featuring a mixture of new and familiar faces.
The story goes: As Ashley’s suffers it’s first championship loss since Winter 2013, several members feel compelled to do some “soul searching”– including Jordan Swift’s trek across the Andes Mountains (filmed mostly in Grand Rapids), Jason Spence’s focus on medical research, and Brett Vogel leaving the team to pursue a career as a blues guitarist in Detroit’s music scene.
GM Mark Woods and Ricky Winowiecki, Director of Player Personnel, travel across the country from rink to rink recruiting the best C-league players in the world.
The result: two goals from newcomer Mike Weber, a goal and four assists from Matt Heim, and a lone goal given up by goaltender Luke Hattie.
Despite critics calling this a “derivative” of Saved by the Bell: The New Class or X-Men: First Class, which similarly features two characters recruiting an elite team, but Woods was quick to note that “the numbers speak for themselves.”
