“Johnston Yelled at Me”

ANN ARBOR– Defenseman Mark Woods was reportedly chastised Wednesday night in Aventinus’s 5-1 win over the Goal Diggers for “feathering” the puck. “He yelled at me for not passing it hard enough,” said Woods.

In the second period, Woods (goal) intercepted a pass in the defensive zone. “I saw Jeff (Price, assist) breaking out at center ice,” noted Woods. “I just didn’t get a good a pass to him, and they stole it.”

Later in the period, Johnston was seen talking tersely to Woods. “What’s with the feather pass?” asked Johnston. Woods was seen laughing, but later reported feeling quite ashamed. “He was right,” said Woods. “I should have passed it with more oomph.”

Johnston was later overheard muttering over Woods’s shot selection later in the second period. After a series of blocked shots, Woods tried to get the puck deep into the zone where Justin Baier (assist) called for it. “I missed the pass again, and Mark let me hear it.”

Added Woods: “He’s always yelling at us for every little mistake we make.”

Scott Bray had two goals and an assist, while the Coleman line scored, including a goal from Ken Coleman and assists from fellow brothers Ron (2 assists) and Daryl.

Goaltender Rusty Barron had an assist, comparing it to a “unicorn” sighting.
