Cleveland Rocks Hopslam

ANN ARBOR– In a game described as “crappy,” Ashley’s Hopslam was dumped on by the Cleveland Steamers 0-4 Tuesday night, giving the team it’s first losing season in recent memory.

Shawn Lopez was solid in goal, but could not hold off Cleveland, who dropped a deuce (two goals) in each of the first two periods.

“We were straining to make something happen, but came up with nothing,” said defenseman Mark Woods. “With that kind of effort, we’re absolutely pooped.”

After beating St. Anky Beer 6-0, the tired Hopslam team has gone winless since, settling for a tie and two losses in this stretch. “The game has gotten faster,” noted Bob Brock.

“Like a stain that just won’t quite wipe clean, this one will stay with us for a while,” GM Mark Woods noted, waxing philosophical.
