Black Ops Blanked, Ricky Befuddled

ANN ARBOR– Forward Ricky Winowiecki looked more like a theoretical physics professor contemplating the nature of the universe following Ruination’s 5-0 win over a stunned Black Ops team early Wednesday. “I’m looking at this team (Ruination),” said Ricky, “and I just don’t know how we won.”

"It doesn't take me to understand 'zat hard work und determination is why Ruination wins," said Albert Einstein, famed theoretical physicist.

“It doesn’t take me to understand ‘zat hard work und determination is why Ruination wins,” said Albert Einstein, famed theoretical physicist.

Perhaps it was Brian Lefevre’s bookend goals, or Jame Jilek’s short-handed goal to end the second period. Jilek finished with two goals. Defenseman Paul Drevnick also scored. Winowiecki also contributed to the win with two assists.

“Shawn (Lopez) was fantastic in net,” said defenseman Mark Woods (assist). Defenseman Anthony Ciatti agreed, noting that the spectacular toe saves were the result of the Black Ops team shooting “twelve inches wide all night.”

Winowiecki was still bemused, openly wondering how “every puck bounced our way.”

“We were all over them,” explained  Ciatti. “And when we got tired, played even smarter.” Ciatti praised the wingers for their tremendous effort fore-checking the entire game despite having only eight skaters.

“Who fore-checks in beer league?” laughed Jilek.

And, while the game may remain a mystery Winowiecki will never fully understand, teammates agreed that this may have been Ruination’s finest hour. “We play great as a team, and that’s been a large part of our success,” said Woods.

“I love this team,” beamed Ciatti.
