Leafs Win Stanley Cup, Cheer Like They Did

ANN ARBOR– Aventinus had the misfortune of hearing Leafs forward Scott Kulhanek “woo!” a few too many times in their 1-8 loss Wednesday night. “You’d think they won the Stanley Cup,” said defenseman Mark Woods.

Johnston expressed interest in bar tending as a man who looks like a cross between Billy D. Williams and Gary Coleman.

Johnston expressed interest in bar tending as a man who looks like a cross between Billy D. Williams and Gary Coleman: Whatchoo talkin ’bout, Han Solo?

In fact, they did not win the Stanley Cup– the L.A. Kings haven’t even won it yet, after losing 1-2 to the Rangers that same night. Sports pundit Guy LaSport noted: “The Kings will have to wait until Friday to win the cup. The Tier II Leafs will have to wait for hell to freeze over, no matter how hard they cheer after every Tier II goal scored.”

LaSport added that he could not stress enough the “simple fact that this is a Tier II league… Not the NHL.”

With their never-say-die attitude, Aventinus managed to spoil the shutout with a Jeff Price goal (his first of the season), assisted by Ken and Ron Coleman. It served as one of the only highlights for the red team.

Among the lowlights, the lowest came when Kulhanek boarded Mark Johnston in the third period. For his trouble, Johnston received a game misconduct when the referee Luke Hattie mistook his partner (David Asquini) in assessing the situation. “Asquini said Mark got a kick out of that play, and I think Hattie took that literally,” said GM Mark Woods.

Johnston said he did not appreciate being boarded, pointing out that he is not a cruise ship in general, or the Love Boat in particular. He also noted that he is not Captain Stubing, but did express interest in being Isaac.

All right!!!
