ANN ARBOR– Questions circulated among teammates following Hopslam’s 4-6 loss to Tope Solo Tuesday night. “Where’s Bob?” asked a concerned and irritable Scott Coates (assist), referring to long-time teammate Bob Brock.
Rumors were fueled early in the Summer season when Brock was apparently traded to Aventinus along with forward Gary Witt in a blockbuster one-way trade. “I loved playing with Aventinus,” said Nate Greenman, who finished with a goal and two assists.
Unsatisfied, Coates continued to demand the return of Brock, noting that he had been unfairly dealt to another team, citing his ability to buy beer for Coates to consume in the locker room as his greatest skill. “I might not leave the locker room,” he said, threatening a 1960s style “sit-in” protest.
When asked, Brock explained that he had been on a recent cruise. “I’m sailing!” he said repeatedly, explaining that the cruise ship was what had him tied up.
“You think he’s gone?” said defenseman Mark Woods (goal, assist). “He’s not gone. That’s the whole point! He’s never gone!”
Brock is expected to return for Saturday’s game with Sasquatch, though beer will be handled by forward Matt Okray, sources said.
