Ms. Communication Key to Good Play

ANN ARBOR– Coach Mary Communication noted that understanding concepts was “key” to Aventinus’ 6-1 win over Mott FK Wednesday night. “It won’t do any good to have mis-communication from Ms. Communication,” said the coach, probably for the ten-thousandth time judging by the eye rolling from players overhearing the interview.

Coach Communication (dubbed “Coach C”) explained to players various concepts that ultimately proved helpful in the win. “That was my first goal of the season,” said Nick Lamb (goal, 2 assists), after heeding the advice that shooting toward the net was “good.”

“I even got Amy (Senne) to put both hands on her stick to increase the power and accuracy of her passing,” said Coach C.

“Well most of the time,” she laughed.

Other standouts include Ginny Klinesteker  and Justin Baier, each with a goal and 2 assists, while Scott Bray added two assists.

However, Coach C admitted that certain concepts are still lost upon the players, such as zone defenses, “back” checking versus “fore” checking, and dressing quickly after a game so you can get home at a decent hour so you can go to sleep for another day of work tomorrow. In addition, some players, according to Coach C, don’t understand the concept of “same-sex marriage,” a controversial issue currently in the U.S. “Some players actually thought it meant having the same kind of sex after getting married, you know, like missionary or something” said the coach.

Added Coach C: “But, of course, we all know that’s ridiculous. No one has sex after they get married!”
