ANN ARBOR– C-League veteran Dave Winn joined Ashely’s Aventinus, providing the offense and defense needed for their 4-0 win Sunday night to start the Winter 2015 campaign. Thanks to Winn, Tom Colis and Nick Lamb each had two goals (two assists for Colis and one for Lamb), while Scott Bray added 4 assists.
Winn also helped defensively as goaltender Chris Sutton notched his first shutout of the young season.
“Dave brings the added dimension of offense and defense,” said Woods. “He also brings a tougher attitude to the team, as evidenced by the penalties (taken by Ken Coleman and Nick Lamb).”
Other teams have already begun lodging complaints that Winn’s presence on the team will upset the balance in the league. When asked, Winn was characteristically stoic, shrugging off the criticism by noting that playing in the D2 league “works better for [his] schedule.”
At this rate, Winn is set to have Colis and Lamb combine for 40 goals this season.
