Rusty Not Dusty, Ops Out of Scoring

ANN ARBOR–Following a four-month hiatus that featured a soul-searching trip to Peru where he ingested ayahuasca under the supervision of Peruvian shamans, Rusty Barron returned to action, pitching a shutout as Ashley’s Ruination won 7-0 Tuesday night against Black Ops.

Expressing a new-found spiritual awakening from the psychedelic brew composed mainly of theĀ Banisteriopsis caapi vine in combination with severalĀ other plants, Barron was uncharacteristically stoic about his performance prior to the game. “We’ll see how it holds up,” said, perhaps in regard to his recently rehabbed ankle or the space-time continuum.

Meanwhile, the Ruination team marched steadily through the game, scoring twice in each of the first two periods before dropping three more in on a tired Black Ops team. Ricky Winowiecki scored the hat trick, adding in an assist. Matt Schaefer returned after taking off a season to work on his pending children’s book One Pez, Two Pez, No Pez, Slopez to score a goal and an assist.

Aaron Renberg also added a goal and an assist. Matt Johnson and Matt Okray each had a goal.

Following the game, Barron announced he would be leaving the team to continue his spiritual awakening. “I’m done,” he said. He later recanted when it was discovered that his spiritual journey was in fact not a trip to Peru or a shamanic spiritual quest, but rather a late-night pizza and warm milk fueled dream. Barron added that he probably shouldn’t have watched that one season of Twin Peaks on Netflix.
