19th Century philosopher and 21st Century goaltender, Friedrich “Jon” Nietzsche turned back Black Ops 5-3 in Tuesday’s semi-final game

ANN ARBOR–Who would have thought that a philosopher who brought Western Civilization the idea of the superman– or ubermensch— could also be Superman in goalie pads, bringing a 5-3 win for Ashley’s Ruination Tuesday night?

“How Nietzsche could write something as bold as Thus Spake Zarathustra and stop all but three shots against Black Ops, I’ll never know!” said GM Mark Woods, a philosophy enthusiast, and clear suspender of disbelief.

Forwards John Vella and Matt Schaefer each had two goals, while Andrew Thompson had a goal and an assist.

Nietzsche also published other famous works, including The Birth of Tragedy, Human, All Too Human, and Twilight of the Idols, a work often thought to be the prelude to the famous Twilight series featuring teen vampires.

Nietzsche, who prefers to be called “Jon” despite his given name of Friedrich, and the rest of the Ruination squad will face off in Game 1 against Topes C for the Spring championship Saturday evening.
