Aventinus Holds Star Mott Player Scoreless

ANN ARBOR– In a true total team effort, Ashley’s Aventinus held star D2 skater Cody Travis without a goal in their semi-final match-up Sunday night. “Try as he might, there was no way he was scoring a goal,” said a beaming GM Mark Woods. “I’m really proud of these guys.”

That's right! Cody Travis can't score-- not on Ashley's... not on anybody!

In fact, Travis only managed one assist the entire night. Despite tremendous footwork, stick work, and passing, often within the same shift, Travis was unable to score a goal.

“As a final taunt, the score keeper even wrote down on the score sheet: ‘Cody Travis can’t score,'” noted a league official.

Aventinus, however, was unable to stop Sean Hubbard from scoring four goals and an assist, nor did the team have any luck keeping Andrew Meyer from dropping in three goals. “I guess there just wasn’t enough room on that score sheet to write Hubbard and Meyer can’t score goals, either,” lamented Woods.

Dave Winn scored twice and Tom Colis added a goal in the 3-11 loss to Mott FK. Both expressed concern, but were happy to note that all three players were “probably” on the so-called watch-list, and looked forward to them being bumped up into a higher league within the next year or two.
