League Demands on Aventinus Continue to Grow

ANN ARBOR– After completing a 5-0 round robin playoff season with a 3-0 win over Yeti, Ashley’s Aventinus was stunned to find that yet another round of playoffs follow. “We thought this led to a championship game,” said GM Mark Woods. “We didn’t realize that the playoffs led to a semi-final and best-of-three championship.”

Last season featured a bracket playoff leading to a best-of-three final series, while the preceding season featured a round robin similar to this season, but with a semi-final and final “one and done” series.

Pundits agreed that a 5-game round robin would naturally end with the top teams from each bracket squaring off in a final game to determine a championship. Instead, Aventinus found that the road to the championship was extended by as many as four more games, provided the team can win in the semi-finals and then gets stretched to the third game.

“That’s a quarter of the games played for the season as playoff games,” noted forward Ginny Klinesteker (goal). “That’s a  little unfair for guys who don’t qualify for the playoffs.”

When asked why such a structure was created, Aventinus administrators were shouted down, and told that four games would be required to earn the right to a championship, but yet a final deed is yet to be completed.

Sources close to the team expressed dismay when it was determined that a “shrubbery” would be required to earn a championship.

Tom Colis and Kenny Schmidt also had goals, while Robert Teixeira added two assists, two e’s and two i’s. Chris Sutton notched his first shutout of the season.
