Due to holiday schedules and a late-finishing season, Aventinus, after defeating Goon Squad 4-3 in a thrilling 2nd period comeback, made a petition to the league to re-examine the playoffs. In a deposition sent Tuesday, a spokesperson for Aventinus stated:

“We got bleeped! This playoff structure is total bull[bleep]. It completely prevents the Cinderella story of a team from the bottom half of the standings from getting hot and winning it all… now [Aventinus has] to win a 6th straight just to qualify to get into a best of 3 final?!!”

League officials responded quickly: “I feel your pain,” said Clint J. Williamson, former president of the United States Horse Hockey Association and current Board of Trustee for the Beer League Association. “And we intend to ensure that teams will know exactly what to expect in the playoffs.”

Added Williamson: “So, it’s definitely going to be either a one-game or best of three series. For sure.”

As of press time, league director Abe Colwell said he is willing to entertain an unconventional best-of-six game series, with a tie-breaker that includes Suduko puzzles, a scavenger hunt, a group therapy session that will include trust falls, and a best of three duck-duck-goose competition.

Bruce Connor had two goals and two assists, while Scott Bray and and Tom Colis (assist) each added goals in the win.
