Havoc Cried, Dogs of Ice Let Slipped

Hopslam (2-2-1) looked sluggish Saturday night as the Ice Dogs cruised to a 7-0 win. Center Jeff Phillion aggravated what team doctors are calling a “lower body injury,” leaving the game early in the first period, returning in street clothes. “I’m hoping it’s not serious,” said Phillion.

Forward Jaron Byrd made his debut with the team, bringing excitement and scoring opportunities, but not shoulder pads. Referee Jack Wallace noted the wadded socks, urging Byrd not to “lie to me.” The tension was smoothed over when Phillion was able to loan his pads.

When asked to assess the game, GM Mark Woods compared it to Shakespeare’s Hamlet: “It was slow and seemed to last forever, and pretty much everyone was dead when it was over.”

“Or was that an episode of Grey’s Anatomy? I get them mixed up,” added Woods.
