Hopslam Bleeds, One Bad Period

Following a 1-0 lead after the first, Hopslam (2-3-1) allowed three goals in the third to lose 1-3. Forward Michael Leighton opened the scoring eight and a half minutes into the game, assisted by Al Juback and Dexter Benda.

However, the ongoing nightmare that is the second period for the team began, as Hopslam slowly bled out, allowing goals at the 17:35, 13:00, and 4:20 marks. They had several good rushes– cycling well at times– but could not stamp on the Topes’ defense, coming away empty in the third.

“I’m exhausted,” said defenseman Brittany Szczepanik after the game. “Tomorrow, I’m going to start working out.”

Forward Gary Witt raised his second beer in agreement.

Szczepanik was called up from the Ashley’s farm team in Louisiana, where her defense was bar none. In four years, not one single skater was able to score against her. When asked if she will make a good addition to the team, center Michael Leighton simply responded, “Definitely.”

Forward Gary Witt raised his third beer in agreement.
