Ruination Win, Discuss Mystery of Women

Winger Sean McGrath revealed his most recent belated Valentine’s gift for wife, Jennifer, following Ruinations’ 6-2 win over Mott Saturday night. “I went to the Blind Pig and recorded Electric Six on my phone.”

The Detroit-based band appeared at the Ann Arbor, MI bar last Thursday. The band scored a top 5 album on the US Dance charts in 2003 with Fire. The single “Danger! High Voltage” reached number 2 on the U.K. charts.

“They (the band) said after their first six songs that that was their worst six songs! That’s great!” McGrath stated.

When asked how the gift was received, McGrath, who scored two goals, said, “I played it for her, and she said it was stupid.”

“That’s not what your wife wanted?” asked defenseman Jason Spence, who had a goal and an assist.

“Sometimes, I don’t know what she wants,” lamented McGrath.

Possible future gifts considered among the team include: a half-expense paid Motel Six stay in Peoria, IL, a bootleg DVD collection of “BJ and the Bear,” a cruise on Carnival’s Triumph, or the 14-carat engagement ring reportedly given to singer Avril Lavigne from Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger.

Ruination (8-3-1) will take its two-game win streak to Olympic Ice Tuesday when it faces Thompson’s Pizza.
