Thompson’s Pizza Topped by Ruination

Ashley’s Ruination (9-3-1) scored a 2-0 victory over Thompson’s Pizza (6-6-1) Tuesday night on Olympic Ice. John Vella and Josh Pohlman scored a goal each to help Ashley’s to it’s third straight win, and a 7-1 record over the last eight games.

“All I know is that I left, and the team started scoring goals,” said defenseman Mark Woods. “Coincidence? I think not.”

Woods left the game early in the second period. Trainers did not specify any injuries, but several fans spotted him crawling to the locker room. Said team officials: “Injury? No. Mark didn’t have skate guards and needed to cross the concrete path.”

“He’s not injured. He’s just slow,” officials added.

Paul Sholtis played a strong game, earning his first shutout as a goaltender. Congratulated by teammates after the first period, Sholtis was very humble. “They only took like two shots,” he said.

The Ruination’s ninth win keeps the team securely in first place with 19 points.

Hilarious things were most likely said in the locker room following the game, but remain undocumented, as the team did not invite the press for post-game interviews. Team officials are calling this a “general manager’s decision.”
